The story of this print spans almost five decades – from the 1960s when John Copeland created the first incarnation of this image – to the print you see here in 2009. We first became acquainted with John’s work for World Record Club while Niels was indulging his hobby of scouring second-hand shops for nicely designed LPs, and it wasn’t long before we had several of his covers. However it wasn’t until Geoff Hocking’s book ‘It’s Another World Record’ (New Chum Press, 2008) that we discovered the names of the designers whose work we had been enjoying, and the surprising fact that these incredible pieces of design that we had been admiring for so long had all been made in our hometown. We met John at the launch of the book and visited him in Adelaide to discuss which of his prints to reproduce. The choice seemed obvious to us, and John even altered the artwork to accommodate the new format with the addition of a plant in the foreground.
